Management of salon staff in recent times has become unsystematic and unpredictable. The reasons are staff coming from different background, qualification and different skill set. Staffs are in the average age of 25years and hence they are teenage with impulsive mindset. They change their decision very fast and don’t think about future opportunities and circumstances. Therefore salon are facing constantly staff shortage as staff changes their job more often. Hence all the staffs are to be handled with love and care. Salon owner or manager should at least have one meeting with all the staffs in a month in order to guide them on the right tract in terms of business and to understand the mental position of the staffs towards their work in your company.
We have come up with several perks and incentives for the staffs apart from their regular salary in order to enhance their productivity and keep them motivated working with your company.
1 Incentives
Before deciding on the incentives, we need to set a business target for all the individual staffs as per their salary package or their responsibilities at work. Normally target is set five times more than the staff’s individual salary. After deciding the individual business target, salon owners can pay incentives of at least 3% over their monthly business amount. If the staff achieves their individual business target, salon owners can pay incentives of 5% over their monthly business amount.
2 Team work
Business cannot be run by one single person. So team work is very important. Create a profession friendly environment inside your parlour and let everyone work as a one family team. In order to encourage them, set an overall company sales target and if achieved, pay common incentives to all the staffs apart from their regular incentives.
3 Paid Leaves or salaried leaves
Salon owner face lot of problems in staff taking lot of leaves, short leaves and long leaves when staff plan to go to their native. Normally leaves taken by the salon staff are not salaried but introducing the paid leaves can make the staff in understanding the value of those leaves they take quite often. The eligibility of paid leave for the staff is that they should complete one year of service to your company. The paid leaves could be Annual Leave of 15 days where staff can plan to visit their native once a year and Casual Leave of 12 days wherein staff can take those leave when they are ill or have important personal work. Annual leave can be taken at one go but the casual leave can be taken maximum of 2 days in one go.
4 Yearly Bonus
Salon owner face lot of problems with the staff constantly changing their job place or staff working with your company with the temporary mindset. Hence salon owner can provide yearly bonus to staff who had whole heartedly served your company for at least one year or more. This will encourage your loyal staff who has been serving your company for quite long time. This will also help the salon owners to retain their staff for longer period of time with your company. As same like paid leaves, the eligibility of yearly bonus is that the staff should complete one year of service with your company. Yearly bonus can be one month of salary of the individual staff or can set the yearly bonus amount as per the company’s yearly business revenue or profit.
5 Medical Insurance
Medical problems are uncertain and expensive. To show concern to your employee, providing medical insurance is the best one. In the market, many varieties of insurance plan would be available. The medical insurance can cover their family members too, like spouse, parents and children.
